Noona's MyFitnessPal Journey Day 1

"Nobody said it was easy, noone ever said it would be this hard"

Anyeong! While Chris Martin is not referring to the journey of weight loss, the lyric of "The Scientist" applies well in Noona's MyFitnessPal (MFP) journey. Even on the first day.

The start of the challenge

In order to know how much calorie intake you can ideally consume within a day with a weight loss target in mind, you have to key in certain information such as your current weight, your goal (e.g. Lose 0.25 kg per week), your activity level, height, gender and your age (DOB). Based on what Noona has keyed in, she only has 1,200 kilo calories to consume each day (with the goal of losing 0.25kg per week). Her starting weight is 54 and she aims to reach 50 within the next...uhh, 4 months! #failatmath


As usual, when you just start any new goal, you are bound to start with a delusional level of optimism and MFP journey is not an exception cause after all, 1,200 kilo calories seems to be a lot. 


That optimism did not last long though, especially after a glass of iced chai tea latte from Starbucks later on during the day.

Noona's MyFitnessPal Journey Day 1

Noona was absolutely gobsmacked upon finding out that there are so much calories contained in the food that she ate today. To give you an idea, let Noona break down for you what she has been eating today:

BREAKFAST:

ONE EGG TART (178 KCAL)

Noona was in the mood to have egg tart for a change. It's probably because she managed to reach Raffles Place MRT 20 minutes earlier than usual. That way, she could make her way to Clifford Centre to buy egg tart. The egg tart from Clifford is quite yummy. 

MORNING SNACKS:

4 PIECES OF M&S MINI OATMEAL COOKIES (80KCAL), 
1 PIECE OF M&S ALL BUTTER FLAPJACK (61 KCAL),
1 PACK OF LOTTE ALMOND WAFFLE BISCUIT (95 KCAL)

This was considered unnecessary snacks which were cause by waiting time for lunch buddy. Noona was already in starvation mode by 11.30PM and her lunch buddy was only able to leave her office by 12.15PM. Sometimes, lunch buddies can be a make it or break it factor for your diet (a fast conclusion from the 1st day of MFP journey). XD

LUNCH:

 ONE BOWL OF THAI NOODLE (540 KCAL), 
TWO PIECES OF SPRING ROLLS (140 KCAL) 

Noona has to admit she may have gone a bit overboard with lunch (blame you lunch buddy!) But, she was kinda surprised to find out that a bowl of Thai soup noodle can have so much calorie. She was after all thinking that soupy food should not have so much calorie inside. Wrong thought, definitely. 

AFTERNOON TEA BREAK:

ICED CHAI TEA LATTE (240 KCAL)
CHOCOLATE ORIGIN'S CHOCOLATE CAKE (188 KCAL)

While Noona is completely aware at how killing is the calorie contained in basically nearly 90% of the drinks offered in Starbucks, she forgot to include the factor that today's Crustacean's (nick for boss) birthday, which means everyone has to contribute by eating a piece of cake. And from all cakes in the world, chocolate cake happens to be Crustacean's favourite cake. Oh my gawd. 

EXERCISE:

LES MILLS BODY JAM CLASS FOR 30 MINS (198 KCAL)
NORMAL-PACED WALKING 10,641 STEPS (316 KCAL)

To make matters worse, the instructor which is covering the usual Friday body jam class happened to be the lousiest ever, Noona could not bear to stay in the class after 30 minutes. The song mix (which determines the moves) totally does not suit Noona's liking and her needs to burn today. Adding to the sour feeling, she bumped into an ex-colleague who she does not feel like communicate ever because she simply could not get a sincere vibe from this fella. Ugh. Hate this faker kind the most. 

DINNER:

GRILLED CHICKEN QUINOA FROM WHEAT (333 KCAL)

Noona does not know that Wheat has shown calorie for all its dishes on the menu. Makes Noona life easier somewhat but healthy food has its own price tag. For instance, this box of grilled chicken quinoa costs SGD 12. Apparently you cannot be poor if you want be slim? Omo!

By the way, it tastes pretty good. The quinoa. But Noona still prefer rice. #riceforever

NIGHT SNACKS:

1/3 PACK OF MARKET O REAL CHEESE CHIP (101 KCAL)
1/3 PACK OF SUN BITES CHIPS (174 KCAL)

Okay okay, Noona knows that she should stop eating after dinner. But today she has been feeling so lousy up to the point she feels that diet should just start tomorrow. Not a wise decision but anyway, feeling do play a part in dieting. Let's hope for better days where there are lesser annoying people on the loose. Hahaha. 

SUMMARY:

GOAL 1,200 KCAL - FOOD 2,136 KCAL + EXERCISE 514 KCAL = REMAINING -422 KCAL

(MFP says Noona will gain 0.6kg weight if she keeps this up for a month)

Let's just cry and aim for a better tomorrow.
