Shopping Trip at Namdaemun Market, Seoul
Seoul is always famous as a shopping haven in South Korea. One of the most popular shopping areas is Namdaemun Market. The nearest way to reach the market is by hopping on the subway and make your way to Hoehyeon Station. When you arrive at Hoehyeon Station, make your way to Exit 5 of the station.
There are shops at both sides of the road. The shops here are mostly owned by ahjumma and ahjussi (re: middle age uncles and aunties). As Namdaemun Market is considered traditional market, you will not be able to try out clothes here. Simply goes with your feeling and just buy the clothes. I have to admit, it's not easy for me to do that because my size is the nor-here-nor-there type.
You can also find other things in Namdaemun Market such as jewellery. If you are in retail business and you want to stock up your jewelleries in Namdaemun because most shops here are catered for wholesale customers who want to buy in a bulk.
A word of warning though, walking in Namdaemun is not easy because the market is pretty big and there are a lot of alleys inside. I have to buy a flat sandals because my feet started hurting when I walked in my wedges.
Namdaemun Market is also a good place to buy souvenirs just like these bears in Korean traditional clothes.
Do note that the market is closed every Sunday. So make sure to visit the market on other days to avoid disappointment.
