One thing that Noona is so looking forward to whenever she's visiting a country is the supermarket. Noona loves snacking the most and in fact, she's currently munching while typing this post. Hahaha sounds unglam she knows. To make matters worse, it is already 10 minutes to 11 at night now but she does not think she will be able to sleep soon so well, let's just enjoy the snack. Nom nom.

"Come on, shopping at supermarket should feel the same at everywhere else in the world."

NOOOOOOOO!

Supermarket in different country will sell different things and City Super happens to have a lot of Japanese snacks which Noona loves (some may have been available in Singapore but Noona was not sure about that so well, grab them all!)

"Okay Noona, chill. What snacks are available at City Super in Hong Kong then?"

Glad you ask that, without further ado:

(1) Pocky for kids

Why Noona call them pocky for kids is mainly because (a) the box is so small (b) the popular characters plastered on the front side of the box. Although to be honest, adults would go ga-ga over Rilakkuma and Hello Kitty too rather than kids. Thomas...okay that one is surely for the kids.

(2) Home Cafe Biscuits

Noona tried this randomly when she and her best pal travelled to Taiwan (there's City Super in Taipei too, woots!) and this cheese biscuits turn out to be very yummy. Since the name of the brand is Home Cafe Biscuits, Noona supposes the biscuits will go well when paired with coffee but they taste good on their own really. One box only contains 7 biscuit bags (one bag contains 2 biscuits).

(3) Olive Pretz range

Noona has never seen this range of Pretz before and it seems that the usual thin Pretz sticks has been enlarged. There are only two flavours for Olive Pretz range, cheese and basil. Noona has tasted the cheese one and she finds it to be so - so. Will update this post on the basil one once she has tasted it.

(4) Nutella Ferrero B-ready

Did anyone say Nutella? One word of "nutella" at any kind of snack will definitely be bought. The biscuit is basically filled with nutella and wait a minute, this taste a bit like the hazelnut from Ferrero Rocher. Melted Ferrero Rocher and nutella filled in biscuits. Taste good on its own (anything contains nutella or ferrero rocher will not taste bad) and when paired with a cup of coffee.

5. Galbo Ball

Galbooooooo! My favourite snacks from Japan (tried and tested the green tea flavor during last year trip to Japan) are available in City Super too. Haven't tried this one yet but the banana choco flavor taste yumz. Suggest to chill them for a while in the fridge before eating.

6. Lindt Creation Chocolate Bars

Noona is sure that both chocolate bars will taste like heaven even though she has not tasted them yet. She has faith in them. LOL.

7. Funky flavoured Pocky and Pretz

Brazilian orange, sweet potato, ice cream and salty chocolate? Only three words required: Buy Them All.

8. Lindt Hello Ranges

Noona bought a lot of these when she travelled to Vienna. The cookies & cream tastes the best but the rest ain't bad either. There are more flavours other than cookies & cream, chocolate sundae and strawberry cheesecake but Noona decided to just stick to these three.

9. Other stuff

If you love chips, you can find varieties of Kettle Chips (has never seen black peppercorn flavour before in Singapore, not sure about sea salt), Nando's chips (yes, even Nando's come up with chips), and Walkers (has never seen Prawn Cocktail, Worchester Sauce and Bacon flavours in Singapore).

Noona had to carry back two big shopping bags to the hotel but she still managed to buy a glass of Ten Ren's Cha along the way. Superpower obtained for snacks. Hahaha.

Anyeong! Noona just came back from a washing hole looking completely satisfied and filled with love from the 8th Prince. Aww Aww Aww. Oh right, sorry about that swooning moment. But Scarlet Heart is really full of fanservice moments and Noona does not mind this one bit since she is living a cruel sad cold life here in reality. Who cares about Noona's sad life? Uhm...okay, please don't throw shits at me like what you did to Prince So!

Okay, back to topic, where are we going today? Today, Noona is going to bring you to a super cool dim sum place in Hong Kong named Yum Cha. Jump!

Yum Cha is located at Central in Hong Kong. Due to its location, Noona was actually pretty hesitant to come to Yum Cha around 1PM because that's where the office crowd is gonna be right, at peak lunch hour time. Turns out the restaurant is huge enough to cater everybody without having the need to queue (although it seems that the price to eat here is pretty high so yeah..).

Well, it worked well for us, tourists and we were pretty happy to get a table immediately so that we could proceed with the ordering. Yum Cha has lunch set for 2 people but we were pretty much more interested in their dim sum compared to the main dishes. So we decided to just go ala carte way in ordering our food.

While we have the time to wait for the food to come, we paid attention to detail and even took picture of them. The bowl used in Yum Cha is quite cute with that fish detail. Okay, there are nothing else to take picture apart from the cute plate.

Thankfully, our food come shortly after (before we started taking any weird pictures). Now did you see why we prefer to eat dim sum at Yum Cha? Yes, they have fun-looking dim sum like piggy buns and these green alien-ish buns. Hahaha. Let's take a closer look at them, shall we?

These little green friends are actually green tea buns filled with guess what, green tea egg yolk. If you poke the bun at the right position, it will look like a puking buns. Green puke and yet, still cute.

The next cutie dim sum cannot puke though, because these piggy are filled with BBQ pork. Always a favourite when you ordering dim sum in Hong Kong. Must order!

Noona's chingu insists on eating something healthy and she chose beetroot fried rice as her so-called healthiest choice of the day. Noona wasn't convinced at all but the beetroot fried rice is surprisingly good. She used to not to have a lot of trust in beetroot after all. And now, she has repent from that wrong believing (in beetroot). :O

We also ordered a normal dim sum because we have not had any normal dim sum since we have landed in Hong Kong, at all. Crab roe siew mai never disappoints. :)

Right after the siew mai arrived, we spotted something in the menu. Yum Cha sold our favourite snack in Taiwan, the spring onion biscuit (cong you bing). In order to satisfy our nostalgic longing, we immediately ordered one. Hahaha. The taste is not as good as the ones sold in Taipei though. #easilyinfluencedcustomer

Anyeong! It has been four days since Noona injured her ankle and obviously gym is still a no-no for her *cry*. Totally no idea how to burn all those calorie intakes. Oh well, let's not condemn ourselves and enjoying ourselves a little bit now that the ankle need a rest. Hahaha. Thankfully, there are no holidays planned anytime soon so there should be enough time for a full recovery before the next trip. *amen*

But it's kinda bored not being able to walk around that far though. In times like these, thanks goodness for the internet. You can basically imagine yourself walking from one place to another just by reading someone's else travel story. As for Noona's, let's just jump to a street in busy Central Hong Kong. Jump!

Anyeong! We are now in Hong Kong again and oh wow, it's morning when we transported ourselves here (wild imagination is necessary to avoid insanity of being boring). It was actually a Monday morning and while most people are busy under their paperworks, Noona and her chingu are busy hunting one of the best delicacies in Hong Kong, egg tarts!

The reason of why we went all the way to Central to hunt down egg tarts is because we always see a long queue in front of Tai Cheon's newly opened store in Takashimaya at Singapore. We think we may as well try the original one in Hong Kong since the queue will not be that exaggerated. And voila! No queue. Hong Kong people are probably bored to death eating egg tarts anyway.

There are not seats inside Tai Cheong bakery as they are meant for take-aways only. So we could only bring it back with us and eat it at the atrium of the Landmark. A lot of people enjoying themselves chilling out nearby the fountain so we would not look weird if we hang out there and enjoying our egg tarts.

Noona prefers Portuegese egg tarts compared to Hong Kong egg tarts but Tai Cheong's one taste not bad. If you ask her, what is her best egg tart so far, the answer would still be Lord Stow's.

Anyeong! Our storyteller, Noona, has had a rough day today. Incessant emails asking questions, re-asking questions, even up to the point asking for meetings. Arghh. Noona wonders if she enjoys watching drama where the main characters survive through hardship in life to reach happy ending (not for some). Oh right, talking about Korean drama, W the Two Worlds ended yesterday and Noona has just had the time to watch the ending (with subs, of course). Awesome drama, even though the ending looks a bit forced, Noona still admire the tinge of creativity inside the ending. She will surely feel void tomorrow without W to entertain her. =*(

Oh right, since life seems annoying, let's just jump to those happy days when Noona was travelling to Hong Kong, shall we?

K-in-HongKong: Urban Bakery Works, The Landmark

Anyeong! Welcome to Central, Hong Kong. Central actually kinda looks like a Central Business District in Hong Kong (which probably how the Govt decided the name of the MTR station and the area). Noona did not work here obviously but she went to Central anyway because her Chingu (re: same age friend) was really really eager to try croissants in Urban Bakery Works (yesh, croissant, no kidding).

Urban Bakery Works is a cafe situated inside the Landmark, a prominent shopping centre/ office building in Central. The shopping centre section of the Landmark is basically rented to all those branded store such as Hermes, Dior, Miu Miu, etc (all the stores which Noona feels she's too poor to even enter the stores).

Since we came at 9.30 on a weekday morning, there were less crowds inside the cafe. But, Noona notices that the cafe patrons around that timing are usually...not local. Well, she supposes Hong Kong people loves to work so hard and who has time to go drink coffee at 9.30AM, right? Even Noona would not dream of that in her daily worklife in Singapore. Right, back to the croissants...*focus*, well croissants seem to be the main dishes of Urban Bakery Works since they have a lot of different variety of croissants put on display.

Dear Chingu apparently has done some research and she looks very determined in choosing the croissant's fillings. She came back with two croissants on her hands, one filled with butter while the oner filled with yellow liquid.

The butter croissant looks like a Chinese bolo bun but instead of the bolo bun, Urban Bakery Works uses croissant instead. The croissant is actually pretty good. Crunchy, sweet and savory at the same time. Taste well when eaten with butter.

The yellow liquid inside the other croissant is the salted egg yolk (which has gained popularity in 2016, god-knows-why). Noona really needs to master how to cut a salted egg yolk croissant in a beautiful way because everytime she tries to make it more pisturesque, she ends up making it grosteque. Oh well. Salted egg yolk croissant taste not bad too but better eat this while the filling is still hot. Otherwise, you will end up with cold yellow liquid inside your croissant.

Urban Bakery Works also sells the usual Western coffees and teas. But since, our foodie trip has just started that day, Noona would rather save some space for the next meal instead of having coffee here.
